皮克斯繼【天外奇蹟】後全新創作 在群山環繞的蘇格蘭高地，梅莉達是位有著一頭紅色捲髮的公主。她的個性衝動又急躁，不拘小節，也從不循規蹈矩，常常不按牌理出牌，讓母親艾莉諾皇后傷透腦筋。 梅莉達天天在森林裡騎馬射箭，跟著三胞胎弟弟享受著無拘無束的生活。不過母親卻一心想調教她成為一個氣質端莊的淑女，而父親也打算以聯姻來締結同盟，可是這全都不是梅莉達想要的。
