Michel Legrand 生於1932年2月24日，在Bécon -萊Bruyères在巴黎郊區）。 他的父親雷蒙德羅格朗是著名的指揮家和作曲家。
出身於音樂世家的法國音樂家米榭‧李葛蘭不但是流行音樂作曲家、爵士樂手、鋼琴家，最為世人熟知的還是他在電影配樂上的成就。他曾經參與過超過兩百部電影與電視影集（片）的配樂工作，為他贏得三座奧斯卡獎與五座葛萊美獎，此外還曾發行上百張的專輯，堪稱是質量兼備的音樂大師。
五○年代初期，米榭‧李葛蘭開始與傳奇爵士大師如迪吉‧葛利斯比、約翰‧柯川、邁爾斯‧戴維斯等人合作，並且接受來自法國與好萊塢等地知名導演的邀請，為他們的電影譜寫配樂，從此展開他璀璨的音樂事業。
本DVD是二○○九年米榭‧李葛蘭在巴黎的音樂會實況，由他本人親自指揮大編制管弦樂團，演出最著名的電影音樂。
