這位爵士吉他老將從七零年代中期一直屹立不搖，他也是當代「大三元」爵士吉他手之一（另外兩位為Pat Metheny 及 Bill Frisell），他也與許多當代優秀的爵士樂手合作，包括查特．貝克、邁爾．戴維斯等…他的音樂則融合著靈魂爵士、Post-Bop、Fusion、Funk等等樂風。
2010年4月23日，在巴黎的「新早晨爵士俱樂部」演出，史考菲在鼓手的Bill Stewart比爾史都華、貝斯手Ben Street、鋼琴師Michael Eckroth的陪伴下，這12首歌曲不但是他個人最喜愛的歌曲，同時也是爵士樂史上的經典。
這個夜晚的演出者包括:吉普賽四重奏的“Woody ‘N You”、史考菲的“The Guiness Spot”、吉爾艾文斯的最愛歌曲：我愚蠢的心“My Foolish Heart”。
整場演出是爵士樂迷不可多得的音樂饗宴，最高等級的爵士樂演出，無疑是必收之藍光發燒天碟！

John Scofield is considered one of the most important and influential jazz guitarists and composers since he arrived on the scene in the mid seventies. A masterful improviser at the peak of his creative art, Scofield revisits today compositions & interpretations richly combining post-bop, funk edged jazz, and R & B influences. A veteran alum, John toured and recorded with the Sons of Miles for nearly four years in the eighties.
