從1804年到1808年這段時間，在完成其他作品的同時，貝多芬創作了第五號交響曲「命運」。貝多芬早年曾經是缺乏系統性音樂教育與紀律的天才少年，在經歷了大風大浪的歲月，與潛心研究巴哈平均律之後，他能透過德國式超絕的邏輯架構，創作精密緊湊的「樂思」，訴說複雜的精神世界。

An Emmy-nominated and Telly Award-winning educational program in which audiences have a chance to discover why Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 remains one of the most cherished works of music more than 200 years after its premiere performance. Host and conductor George Marriner Maull and the Discovery Orchestra "unpack" the symphony's first movement before a live audience-and for the video viewer. Following the exploration of the first movement, the orchestra performs the rest of the symphony, preceded by short introductions from Maestro Maull before movements 2 and 3.
