本名Aretha Louise Franklin的艾瑞莎富蘭克林以其福音藍調的唱腔及寬廣的歌域，享譽歌壇數十年。無論爵士、福音、靈魂、搖滾、流行、藍調甚至歌劇都能駕馭自如，讓人聽後無不陶醉，故有靈魂樂皇后之美名。
1968年到1975年她史無前例地連續8年贏得葛萊美最佳節奏藍調女歌手的獎項，於是有人將這個獎取了綽號叫’The Aretha Award’，可見她在流行歌壇尊榮的地位。
