《阿拉伯的勞倫斯》法國音樂大師莫里斯‧雅爾勇奪奧斯卡、金球獎與葛萊美獎3座最佳電影音樂獎的戰爭史詩。
在以《阿拉伯的勞倫斯》獲得奧斯卡最佳導演獎肯定之後，英國導演大衛‧連與性格巨星奧瑪‧雪瑞夫於1966年再度合作了史詩鉅片《齊瓦哥醫生》，影片描述了齊瓦哥醫生與裁縫師女兒拉娜之間飽受命運與戰爭糾纏的愛情故事。
由法國配樂大師莫里斯‧雅爾（Maurice Jarre, 代表作《春風化雨》、《證人》、《第六感生死戀》）所譜寫的音樂，還同時勇奪當年的奧斯卡、金球獎與葛萊美獎3座最佳電影音樂獎。影片則獲得奧斯卡最佳影片、導演等10項提名，贏得最佳改編劇本等5座大獎，同時也在金球獎上抱走劇情類最佳影片、男主角、導演、編劇等5項大獎，在美國電影學會(A.F.I.)於2002年所評選的「史上最偉大的100部愛情電影」名單上高居第7名。
雅爾喜歡以馬特諾電子琴（Ondes Martenot *1920年代發明的電子樂器，可以經由真空管振動頻率的變化，產生神祕又奇特的聲音效果）作為主要樂器，然後再與弦樂跟打擊樂作結合。在本片中，他除了前述提及的基本配備外，還選用了俄國的巴拉拉卡琴，日本的傳統樂器－十三弦古箏與三味線，電子鋼琴，手風琴，撥弦的古鋼琴，電子聲效器，歐洲的弦樂器齊特琴等。雅爾在這些樂器的配搭下，創作出深具神秘音色，浪漫氣氛，戲劇張力，遼闊視野，同時瀰漫著俄羅斯風情的史詩樂章，其中，〈Lara’s Theme〉這段以巴拉拉卡琴作為主奏的淒美戀曲，是電影音樂史上辨識度極高的一段音樂，由於旋律非常優美，後來這段旋律在女歌手康妮‧法蘭西斯（Connie Francis）的請求下，填上了歌詞成了一首動人情歌〈Somewhere My Love〉，此一原聲帶版本同時加收了透過爵士，搖滾與搖擺樂三種不同方式所演繹的〈Lara’s Theme〉。
