摘要註
The Chevalier des Grieux meets and seduces the young Manon when she is being escorted by her brother to a convent. Manon lives with des Grieux in Paris, but leaves him for a rich admirer. She is later arrested, charged with prostitution, and deported to Louisiana. Des Grieux accompanies her and during an escape attempt she dies in his arms. 背景是十八世紀後半葉, 曼儂是美麗放蕩的鄉下姑娘, 當家人把她送到修道院時, 遇到年輕騎士德格魯, 兩人一見鍾情, 私奔到巴黎. 不久手中金罄, 曼儂又投身富豪傑隆特, 她雖過著豪華生活, 但仍不忘和德格魯寒酸卻有愛情的日子.
