來自拉脫維亞的指揮尼爾森出身音樂世家，畢業於聖彼得堡音樂院，曾師事賈維與楊頌斯等指揮大師。2013年，時任伯明罕市交音樂總監的尼爾森與巴伐利亞廣播交響樂團合作了這場「來自新世界的信息」音樂會，一舉奠定他頂尖少壯指揮的地位，甚至之後一度成為繼任柏林愛樂總監的熱門人選。音樂會中無論新世界交響曲或者夜鶯，尼爾森與巴伐利亞帶出的，是無比洗鍊精準的樂音與火一般的熱情，斯圖加特日報評論這整場演出：「尼爾森與樂團間默契渾然天成…兩者均為觀眾帶來無限驚喜」。
