這些音樂記錄著一段浪漫情緒。大提琴家百利與鋼琴家唐恩斯嘗試著將美國20至30年代本土作家如伯恩斯坦、巴伯、柯普蘭、佛斯等人的作品，以大提琴與鋼琴重奏組合再次呈現給大眾。百利與唐恩斯說這時期是美國音樂史上的一個美好的時代，這些音樂不只是在音樂會上上演，更真的融入到美國國民的心中，與生活緊密的連結在一起。
專輯中有一半是美國最偉大的指揮家、作曲家伯恩斯坦的作品。以往歐洲樂壇的樂團都由歐洲的指揮家所掌握，直到伯恩斯坦以美國指揮家躍上舞台，才有了全新的氣象，他以指揮身分，進行全世界音樂會巡迴，更不停的推動美國在地音樂家的作品，如：柯普蘭的《阿帕拉契之春》等名作品，才在世界打開美籍音樂家的知名度。另一位同樣名列美國近代大師的巴伯，也是眾人所熟悉的一位作曲家，其作品《弦樂慢板》在美國總統甘迺迪的葬禮中使用而成名，雖然專輯中收錄的《大提琴奏鳴曲》不若《弦樂慢板》出名，但依然是部有極富浪漫色彩與張力的作品。這張錄音在百利與唐恩斯柔美的詮釋，以及精品般的錄音，優美的琴聲一句句都深入心靈深處，溫暖撫慰了人心。
