生於西班牙加泰隆尼亞地區，父親為畫家的賈西亞范斯，五歲開始學鋼琴，八歲學古典吉他，青少年接觸搖滾樂，十六歲進入巴黎國立高等音樂舞蹈學院，拜師法國低音提琴大師Francois Rabbath門下，深受古典樂與爵士樂及其他各種多樣樂風影響的賈西亞范斯，於1996年推出首張演奏專輯〈Alborea〉後，很快的就以他內涵豐富、充滿旋律性的演奏，受到古典、爵士各跨界樂迷喜愛。
賈西亞范斯的音樂，融合了爵士、古典、西班牙佛朗明哥、法國手風琴舞曲，參加法國爵士樂團L’Orchestre de Contrebasses期間，與Jean-Louis Matinier,、Michael Riessler、Nguyen Le,、and Michel Godard等法國爵士大師合作，也曾與西班牙佛朗明哥大師Gerardo Nunez 與中東音樂家Kudsi Erguner、Dhafer Youssef、Cheb Mami等人合奏演出。
本張於南法Marcevol現場演出錄音的錄音專輯〈Solo〉，演繹多首原創作品及改編名曲，融合古典、爵士、佛朗明哥、南法地中海的風情與情感，融入每一次拉弓裡，專輯第一首《Palermo Notturno》，略帶中東風味的旋律，搭配有如舞步般的節奏，令人為之神往；《Kurdish Mood》那有如進行曲的樂句進行，與鏗鏘有力的彈奏，讓人有如慢步於黃沙滾滾的荒漠。

Recorded at a beautiful, venerable venue in the French Pyrénées, it presents Renaud as a one-man 'orchestra', unconfined by generic borders. He is alone, throughout. Some pieces are absolutely solo, 'naked.' Others involve loops and/or pre-recorded/processed/percussive/'electronic sounds. All sounds originate from Renaud's dearest-best beloved. His double bass is a 'conventional' instrument, apart from it having 5 rather than 4 strings.
