本片故事接續《獅子王》第一集，具有正面啟發的意義，藉著琪拉雅的成長故事，強調唯有寬恕與包容，才是化解仇恨對立的最佳良藥。
辛巴成功復國後，當上了獅子王，也和娜娜有了後代－女兒琪拉雅，而刀疤的餘黨也都被驅逐到王國之外的蠻荒之地，但餘黨首領吉娜卻不死心，暗中培養刀疤的接班人，等待復仇的時機。
沒想到多年之後，長大的琪拉雅和高孚居然相識相戀，在雙方勢同水火的對峙之下，他們的戀情會給榮耀王國帶來怎樣的風波呢？面對如此的情況，身為國王的辛巴又該如何發揮智慧，維護王國的和平呢？

Kiara and Kovu, the newest generation of the prides, experience the power of love and enjoy more of Timon and Pumbaa's antics. Kiara, Simba's headstrong daughter and heir to the Pride Lands, is on the prowl for adventure. While boldly exploring the Outlands - which are strictly off-limits - she meets Kovu, a young cub chosen to walk in Scar's path. Kiara and Kovu find that they may be the only hope left for healing the rift between their two prides.
