小約翰．史特勞斯的圓舞曲和波卡舞曲作品非常多，每年在維也納新年音樂會都會不斷出現當代人不曾聽過的新曲。總計他一生寫過170首圓舞曲、140首波卡舞曲，還以多輕歌劇。
史特勞斯管弦樂團由維也納愛樂的前任首席指揮-鮑斯考夫斯基自己一手創立的。
指揮家鮑斯考夫斯基是二十世紀最著名的史特勞斯家族圓舞曲的詮釋者，這位出生於維也納、後來有43年時間都是鼎鼎大名維也納愛樂首席的小提琴家，因為熱愛這些被維也納人視為榮耀的圓舞曲，而自組維也納約翰史特勞斯樂團，在不參加維也納愛樂演出時，就以指揮該團演出這些美好的圓舞曲為樂，將史特勞斯家族的美好樂聲不斷地傳遞給世人。
