巴伯的音樂，大抵以弦樂慢板、醜聞學校、小提琴協奏曲，還有一些歌曲
集聞名。這位出生於美國賓州的作曲家，是廿世紀美國相當重要的作曲大
師之一，1910出生，他的作品廣受當時的指揮大師如托斯卡尼尼、華爾特
、羅金斯基等人的賞識。這份錄音收錄他的第一、二號交響曲，第一號管
弦樂隨筆和醜聞學校，指揮家叫做瑪琳‧阿索普（Marin Alsop），在台灣
知名度並不高，但卻已是美國重要的女性指揮之一。這份錄音，由阿索普
和皇家蘇格蘭國家管弦樂團合作，有著相當驚人的演出，企鵝評鑑給予三
