Robert Ashley has updated and transformed the face of opera. In this imaginative and engrossing video, he performs the first opera of its kind -- Perfect Lives, a work created exclusively for Television. Although it draws on inherited traditions of American music, Perfect Lives is the start of a new musical genre, a break in the musical customs of how images and sound go together in dramatic form.
