摘自 佳佳唱片 網站 : 指揮家庫貝利克出生於捷克比丘里，父親是小提琴家簡·庫貝利克。庫貝利克從小學習鋼琴和指揮，1934到1936年間還曾為父親美國巡迴演出伴奏。庫貝利克在1936年擔任布拉格捷克愛樂指揮，1939年出任布爾諾愛樂首席指揮。二次大戰期間因拒絕和納粹合作而流亡西方世界，直至1990年的布拉格之春音樂節才重返祖國，指揮捷克愛樂演出史麥塔納《我的祖國》。在國外的這段時間，庫貝利克擔任過芝加哥交響樂團（1950年到1953年）、英國柯芬園（1955年到1958年），以及巴伐利亞廣播管樂團（1961年1986年）音樂總監，較擅長後期浪漫的作品。
著名指揮家巴倫波英曾經說：「庫貝利克是罕見能在音樂與音樂之外表現出個人特質的音樂家。從他對待音樂家的方式、他的言行舉止都可以感受到他是一名胸襟寬廣的音樂家的特質。」
庫貝利克與DG有長期合作情誼，這套專輯一次完整收錄他在DG所有錄音與兩張影片，包括和不同樂團合作的貝多芬、德弗札克與馬勒交響曲全集，以及樹立起經典標竿的楊納傑克、奧夫、史麥塔納錄音。
這套CD所有封面皆採用原始封面設計，內附有120頁由英國著名樂評人Rob Cowan全新撰寫的文章。
