原名Brenda Gail Webb的蓋兒，是已故鄉村天后Loretta Lynn之妹，但她很早就走出姐姐的庇蔭，以柔軟細膩的歌聲征服了所有的樂迷。1974年她以單曲「I’ll Get Over You」拿下全美鄉村榜冠軍，其後十年更有多達十七首冠軍曲問世。
這張蓋兒的名曲選集，收錄下她自1979年至1996年間所有暢銷經典，包括了讓她贏得葛萊美最佳鄉村女歌手的「Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue」在內。近年蓋兒已很少出現在樂壇，想要見識這位當年長髮妹的美聲丰姿，恐怕就只有在這張「美聲金選」中了。
