1767年創作，由獨唱家與樂團演出的《責任是首先的要求》是一部神劇，也有人把它當成莫札特的第一部歌劇。它的歌詞取材自聖經不同章節中，與正義、慈悲等主題相關的文字。
《阿波羅與海雅欣茲》是莫札特十一歲創作獨幕喜歌劇，創作對象是當地的初中畢業生，1767年就是在當時稱為薩爾茲堡大學的大音樂廳舉行首演。故事描述海雅欣茲的父親奧巴魯特誤會阿波羅殺害兒子，在上帝懲罰真兇，並且把海雅欣茲變成紫羅蘭後，明白自己錯怪阿波羅的奧巴魯特把最心愛的女兒梅麗亞嫁給阿波羅。
