1955年，在他於新港爵士音樂節全面成功的演出之後，邁爾斯．戴維斯Miles Davis(1926年5月26日生，1991年9月28日卒)，成熟的巨匠軌跡開始在樂壇發光發熱，並註定成為爵士樂史上開創新局的先知與領銜者。在新港演出之後不久，他創立了至今已名列殿堂的1950年代經典五重奏，成員囊納了當時正在蓄勢將起的樂手如中音薩克斯風John Coltrane、鋼琴Red Garland、貝斯Paul Chambers以及鼓手Phlilly Joe Jones。在某一於持續三天的錄音Sessions，這個五重奏錄下了推動歷史的紀事，5張為Prestige Records所灌製的專輯，在半世紀後的今天，被奉為先驅圭臬的經典作品。
5月23日，取納自上述五張專輯之絕對極粹的Bebop、Hard-bop與抒情曲調兼容的The New Miles Davis Quintet, Cookin’, Workin’, Relaxin’, and Steamin’，將由Concord Music Group以旗下Label-Prestige Records重新以-The Miles Davis Quintet: The Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions經典重現上市，所有原由知名錄音大師Rudy Van Gelder(RVG)操盤之母帶以24-bit數位化處理後推出。
此次推出之《邁爾斯．戴維斯五重奏 / 80周年冥誕 -傳奇重現典藏盒》，32首典藏曲目涵括了“Four”、“Trane’s Blues”、“My Funny Valentine”、“Tune Up”與“When Lights Are Low”、等及至現今已成標準經典Standards的曲庫，Bonus CD(第4CD)收錄了8首之前從未發表過的珍稀錄音，其中包括2闕在知名的全國性電視節目The Tonight Show-with Stever Allen中演出的Hard-Swing樂段“Max Is Making Wax”以及柔情萬千的情曲出自Rogers and Hart之Standards“It Never Entered My Mind”。一位創造歷史的巨人，一組攜手共創新局的五重奏，所有關於偉大的有聲軌跡，在這一套無可取代的套裝典藏中完美的記註。
