摘自 卓樂音樂學堂 網站 : 巴托克的第二小提琴協奏曲 (Béla Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 2)，創作於1938年，很長一段時間內被當成他唯一的一部。一直到寫於1908年的第一部小提琴協奏曲手稿在1956年被發現，才被重新命名為第二小提琴協奏曲。 在1907年，巴托克他剛在布達佩斯音樂學院任教不久，就愛上了匈牙利裔的瑞士女小提琴家Stefi Geyer . 一年後，巴托克創作了一首小提琴協奏曲，並把手稿和一首情詩一同寄給了StefiGeyer。但Stefi從來沒有公開演奏過，50年後（1958年）才由小提琴家Hans-HeinzSchneeberger首次演奏這封用音符寫成的情書。 第二首小提琴協奏曲是巴托克與匈牙利的告別之作。當時，巴托克的政治思想非常左傾，他曾在1919年的匈牙利蘇維埃共和國音樂管理部門任職。巴托克甚至在他出版的“五首歌曲”上公然題獻給了共產黨詩人萊尼茲。 1937年，當匈牙利小提琴家ZoltanSzekely請巴托克創作小提琴協奏曲時，納粹德國的鐵蹄已經逼近匈牙利，巴托克已經意識到自己可能會遠離祖國。 這首協奏曲在1938年年底寫成，1939 年 3 月 23 日在阿姆斯特丹音樂廳首演，佐爾坦·塞克利 (Zoltán Székely) 演奏小提琴，威廉·門格爾貝格 (Willem Mengelberg) 指揮音樂廳管弦樂團。
