曾在日本電視廣告中登場、因而大受歡迎的世界著名歌劇女主唱凱薩琳．芭托(Kathleen Battle)，這是她頌唱莊嚴祈禱歌曲的專輯。交響樂團為其演奏，她挑選J.S.巴哈、莫札特、佛瑞等宗教曲，以及專輯名稱古諾的「聖母頌（Ave Maria）」。
