此張灌錄於一九七二年的Bird of Fire專輯，這是瑪哈維希努樂團(Mahavishnu Orchestra)(按：印度婆羅門教裡懲惡獎善、大慈大悲的守護神)繼Inner Mounting Flame震撼樂壇後的第二號專輯，兩者早已同列為爵士史中Jazz-Rock首選的經典名盤。
在大家所熟悉的吉他手John McLaughlin、鍵盤手Jan Hammer、小提琴手Jerry Goodman、鼓手Billy Cobham、貝斯手Rick Laird等經典第一代樂團成員的流暢配合下，整體音樂的呈現確實也如專輯封面所展現出的意象，釋放出火鳥衝天般的劇烈熱能，樂團靈魂人物John McLaughlin於此張專輯中一如以往展露出令人驚艷的作曲才華，例如長僅22秒，宛如樂手鼓譟嬉鬧般的"Saphire Bullets of Pure Love"；參染歐陸古典風格、平穩舒緩的"Thousand Island Park"，亦或是初起幽默歡於略帶田園詩風情，而後奇峰突起火力四射的"Opem Country Joy"等曲，均可說是難得的佳作。五位樂手以深植人心的音樂美學技巧與煽動力強悍的演奏，突破音樂與聽眾之間藩籬，奠定了他們成為融合(Fusion) 搖滾爵士樂先軀之一。
