在文藝復興與巴洛克時期音樂中，以假聲男高音屹立於樂壇的英國聲樂家阿爾弗瑞德•戴勒（Alfred Deller 1912-1979），孩童時期參加地方上的合唱團。在變聲之後，他仍以其高音域繼續演唱，並以假聲男高音活躍於教堂合唱團。之後更在作曲家提佩特（Michael Tippett）的推薦之下，成為英國第一位以假聲男高音成名的演唱家。1948年他成立了專門演奏╱演唱巴洛克和之前音樂的戴勒合奏團（The Deller Consort），並在HMV、Vanguard以及Harmonia Mundi等公司錄下不少重要唱片。
