1936年出生於耶路撒冷的指揮家殷巴爾，早年在家鄉的音樂院學習小提琴以及作曲，之後經由伯恩斯坦的推薦，他以優異指揮才能獲得巴黎音樂院的高級班獎學金進入該院學習。1963年榮獲坎泰利（Guido Cantelli）指揮大獎，1974年接掌法蘭克福廣播交響樂團。他帶領法蘭克福廣播交響樂團與Denon公司合作的這套馬勒交響曲全集，錄製時間從1985年三月到1986年十月，共費時一年七個月。之後又於1988年錄製「大地之歌」，並於1992年加錄第十號交響曲的庫克（Deryck Cooke）第一次增訂版。
這些錄音在當時獲得樂壇上無數獎項，包括法國音叉雜誌大獎、英國留聲機雜誌年度最佳唱片、德國唱片大獎等。當時Denon採用所謂的單點錄音技術，整體音效呈現出自然清晰的效果，更獲得音響界的認同與肯定。
